Looking back a this first rehearsal week with Brisbane ensemble Kupka’s piano, we can say this is being one of the most fun tours we’ve had!<\/p>\n
Thanks to the support of JUMP Mentorship (a joint initiative of the Australia Council of the Arts and Next Wave), we are spending two weeks in Brisbane as mentors to Kupka\u2019s Piano, working with the ensemble at works from our repertoire, such as Donatoni\u2019s Arp\u00e8ge and Maderna\u2019s Honeyr\u00eaves, as well as pieces by a younger generation of Italian composers, such as Mauro Lanza and Clara Iannotta, and new pieces by young Australian composers Liam Flenady, Michael Mathieson-Sandars and Luke Paulding.<\/p>\n
Besides rehearsing, we’re engaging in discussion sessions exploring ensemble identity, repertoire development, organisational issues, and getting to know what’s up in contemporary Australian music!<\/p>\n
We’re having the best time with Kupka’s crew – we could not wish for friendlier people and more dedicated musicians!! Looking forward to our joint concerts on September 27 and 28 at the Judith Wright Centre.<\/p>\n
